Spring is Springing

Happy Spring!  We still have chilly days and nights here in Downeast Maine, but the sun is warming our hearts!

It's finally getting warmer and the ice on the Schoodic Loop has melted, making for wonderful hikes on the many paths close to our cottage.

If you're thinking about a vacation close to Acadia National Park, we're pretty darned close, just a two minute drive on the quiet side of the park, on the Schoodic Peninsula.

The larger part of the Park is over on Mt. Desert Island and only a one hour drive for more things to see and do.  The summer months are extremely busy on the Island, and it can be difficult to find a parking place, and when you do, there is a charge in most places.  So, you can always take a fun cruise across the bay on the Miss Lizzie!

So many things to see and do here in Downeast Maine!  And, after a long day of exploration along the beautiful coast or in Acadia National Park, you will need a nice, quiet place to kick back and relax.

Acadia Woodland Cottage is just what you need!  Surrounded by trees and the song of birds chirping while sitting on the screened in deck will easily help you with that much needed relaxation.

We are quickly booking for the coming summer season, so don't wait too much longer to check us out!

LOVE IS IN THE AIR!

It's February and we need to start thinking about less snow and ice and warmer weather with more sunshine up here in Maine!

Oh, and lest we forget, Valentine's Day is come up quickly.  Have you thought about what you'd like to get your loved one for that day?  Hmmmm, flowers, chocolates, a fancy restaurant dinner?

Better yet, how about a gift card showing a beautiful summer vacation in our lovely State of Maine that you will be looking forward to when the snow flies again in February!

It won't be long before Mother Nature wakes up and begins to bring beauty to Acadia National Park and the other surrounding places and things you've always wanted to see.  Here on the Schoodic Peninsula we have a peaceful place to kick back after a long day of hiking, biking or just roaming around busy Mount Desert Island,  Bar Harbor or other quaint fishing towns close by.

We are a mere two minute ride to the Schoodic Loop and several hiking areas here on the Park's "quiet" side.  Our cottage in Winter Harbor is nestled in a wooded area and close to restaurants, a golf course, wonderful stores with pottery, art and other local handmade articles you may want to take back home to remind yourselves of the fun you had while here.

So, don't wait, we already have bookings!  You can find us on VRBO # 1713662 or, if you have questions drop us an email at giddy33@gmail.com

January has not been very kind to us here on the Downeast coast of Maine!

So many towns have suffered with the two wild and windy storms that passed us within several days, leaving them with so much damage and literally, tons of cleanup of seaweed and the huge trees which were not able to withstand the winds of 70+ miles per hour.

However, we Mainers are strong folks, and standing together, we will get through this and be ready for a hopefully, beautiful spring!

In the meantime, Mother Nature did send us some glorious, red sunsets which we thoroughly enjoyed watching.

If you're feeling a bit bored and having some cabin fever, there's plenty of snow hiking areas here in the quiet side of Acadia National Park in Winter Harbor and over on Mt.Desert.  The 12 mile Loop Road and Bunker's Path in Winter Harbor are two of my favorites and only a short few minutes drive from the Cottage!

We are open all year long, so if you have a yearning for a quiet, cozy place to stay after a long hike in the woods, check us out on VRBO #1713662.  There's lots of photos to peruse and we are already booking, so time to start thinking of your visit to our beautiful State of Maine!

We'll keep the lights on for ya! 😄
