Wishing everyone a peaceful, joyous celebration! 🎄
Our seasonal cottage is situated in a lovely, wooded area near the quiet Schoodic section of Acadia National Park, in the beautiful State of Maine.
The weather has been cooperating and the fellas are working hard to move things forward before the next potential rain and windstorm on Christmas Day. Forecasters are saying we may have up to 60 mph wind gusts and accompanying power outages! I guess we'll be hunkering down with Tara and Trooper for our holiday. 🐕🐕🎄🎅

Stay tuned for more excitement! Hugs to All and wishing you a very Merry Christmas! 💖
Last Thursday was a doozy, weather wise. The meteorologists couldn't quite get the forecasts right and kept changing them from 6-8" of snow to 3-6" and finally 1-3". Well, we finally ended up with 5+ of beautiful, fluffy white stuff in some areas. Needless to say, Bob and Jeff spent Friday morning shoveling snow off the deck in the bitterly cold temperatures, so they decided to wait til Saturday to do more work, and they got quite a bit done yesterday!
The forecast for next week is for warmer temperatures, but probably with some rain. Keeping fingers crossed for good working weather 😄
Despite the chilly, windy weather, the guys got the deck finished and started on the walls.
Today's gonna be a bundle up with long johns and warm hats day. The forecast is for temperatures in the lower teens and more stiff breezes. Good thing there's lots of trees around to somewhat buffer the wind! Brrrrr 😊
This week's weather has cooperated nicely with warmish afternoons and little wind so Bob and Jeff have made great progress. Unfortunately, the forecast for next week is not quite as dry and warm. Good thing they have some indoor work to finish on another job.
YAY! The foundation is in and backfill is being done tomorrow! Bob will be able to begin the building process by next week! Quoting Sherlock Holmes - "The game is afoot"!
In the meantime, here's a good article on the Schoodic section of Acadia National Park. We are on the quiet side and will provide lots of privacy, hiking trails, kayaking and just plain fun when you get here! Enjoy planning your visit to our beautiful State!
Progress begins once again after several delays due to weather, weekends, yada, yada. The rest of the foundation can now, hopefully, be finished so other things like electricity, well digging, ordering supplies, etc. We're keeping fingers crossed for good weather for the rest of November.
Let the fun begin!!😆😅
Things are looking up in Lalaland! 😍
Well, it's been a few month's wait, but we seem to finally have things on the move again. After having gotten the septic in, the situation with the Covid virus got a wee bit heated in Maine and we had to put things on hold until we could decide what to do.
Gratefully, we have finally gotten our building permit and it looks like the foundation will be installed shortly. In the meantime, summer is almost over and the leaves are beginning to show some color, however, I'm not expecting much as this has been a very warm, dry season. All of the perennials in my garden have not been as beautiful as they usually are, but then, each year is different and heaven knows 2020 has been a doozy, so far!
We are hoping to get things under roof before the snow flies so we can spend the winter finishing everything and get ready for next summer's tourist season!
