Summer is upon us - finally!

And, with all the rain we've had recently, the woods are bursting with beautiful, spring greenery.

Being an early morning person, I decided to take a nice long walk in Sorrento before getting into my long list of things to do.  It was absolutely glorious!  The birds were singing in the trees and, as I looked up into the sky, I saw an osprey picking up twigs and building a nest in a dead tree.  I ran into a deer who was feeding along the road.  He stopped munching on the grass and as I stood there we just kept watching each other. It was almost like a game of Chicken - who's gonna bolt first!  LOL!  I finally gave in and let him continue with his breakfast.  It was a wonderful, peaceful walk, a great way to begin my day and only a four mile drive from my house!

So much for my day, but here is an interesting destination to visit!

So Far, So good!

After all this time to get this project going, we have had our first guest and we're happy to report she gave us our first 5 Star Review!

"If I tell you how great this place is, there's a chance there won't be availability for me next time. But okay, here goes... this home is super clean, updated, comfortable, has a screened-in porch, and is conveniently located. It's 5 min to the park entrance, where you can check out Raven's Nest, Schoodic Point, and trails near Blueberry Hill parking lot. Corea Heath is another easy loop walk to try if you're looking for something less strenuous. The house is also near The Pickled Wrinkle to get a bite to eat. Be sure to say hi to my friends Jane & Kelly at the Littlefield Gallery, and take a tour at U.S. Bells. All in all, a perfect place to stay during your visit!"

We were tickled pink to say the least and hope we'll be able to accommodate many more happy guests!

In the meantime, one of my jobs as "Property Manager" involves one of my favorite things to do and that's gardening!  Bob came up with a great idea to build a long planter for the front of the house, I planted lots of red, pink and white impatiens, mulched it and it looks so colorful and cute. I'll post a picture for my next blog post when things have begun bloom nicely.

I also began a rock garden for the right side of the property's entry way and as I was digging around, I found more boulders under some of the soil.  So, I hosed them all down and we now have a true rock garden with lots of sedums and other perennials from my yard.  It will probably take a few years to fill in, but I think it turned out nicely.

Anyway, although there are many hiking and biking paths here on the "quiet side" of Acadia National Park, I thought I'd post information about some of the the nice hiking path's in the main part of the Park over in Bar Harbor.
