Our seasonal cottage is situated in a lovely, wooded area near the quiet Schoodic section of Acadia National Park, in the beautiful State of Maine.

Windows!

It's been a busy and very productive week for the fellas and they were ready to put the windows in (with the exception of the ones in the upper level of the great room) so, off to Home Depot to pick up the ones needed.  Unfortunately, they only had 8 of the needed 10 in stock!  The next day, a friend and I headed to Bangor's Home Depot to pick up the last two so work could continue.

Most of the windows and the slider off to the deck have been installed with the exception of the ones we bought in Bangor, as it was too late in the day to get them in.

The shingles are ready to be put on the roof, however, it looks like we might get  snow and wind tomorrow, so that probably won't happen.

However, interior work continues.  Here's a view of Bob in the great room, measuring and getting boards cut for the crew to install.  The tall ceilings are going to give the cottage a very spacious look and the upper windows will let in lots of light.

Progress continues, and next week will hopefully, be another productive one, despite the looming forecast of more snow!  Keeping fingers crossed and hoping for the best.👍😉

Stay tuned!

Moving right along!

Another decent weather week has passed and the fellas have gotten lots done not only on the cottage, but around the site, with some tree trimming, as well.  The loft area is getting ready for windows and walls.

And the great room windows are being readied for installation.  Unfortunately, they are custom windows and won't be ready to install for another six weeks!  Sigh

In the meantime, they've been framed inside

and the remaining outside walls are up!

Next week's weather is looking chilly, but otherwise pretty good so we're hoping this progress continues!  Windows should be in soon, so stay tuned for more!  😊

Another busy week!

Mother Nature was kind to us this week, with the exception of the one early morning when a surprise snow squall blew through requiring work to stop.  Otherwise, work has gone on, as scheduled and the roof trusses on the main living area are on!

The fellas are busy putting on the first level...

...and I climbed up to get a first glimpse of the loft area!

Both sides are now ready for the next step

and the forecast is looking good weatherwise.  Keeping fingers crossed!

Stay tuned for more next week!  😊

The weather is finally cooperating and progress is being made.

It's cold, but the sunshine makes a huge difference and the cold wind has finally settled down a bit.  The forecast for next week is looking pretty good, so we're keeping fingers crossed!

The bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry room are framed in.

The loft trusses have gone up...

...and roofing has begun!

Gratefully, Bob has good help and the fellas are working hard to get things under roof, hopefully, before Mother Nature decides it's time for the long winter's nap!  And, as another very busy week comes to an end, I had to share this beautiful sunset we had the other evening!

Stay tuned for more exciting news! 😊

And, a New Year begins! Welcome 2021!!

The sun rose beautifully on the first day of 2021, so Ms. Tara, my hiking buddy and I went for a nice, long 5K walk on the Bunker's Bike Path in the Schoodic section of Acadia National Park that's only a two minute drive from the future cottage.  It started out a wee bit chilly, but after a few minutes of marching along in the sunshine, we warmed up nicely!

Bob and Jeff decided to take advantage of the nice, sunny weather to do more work on the cottage even though it was a holiday and they got quite a bit done.  Good thing, because we were expecting snow the next day.

By the time I stopped by for a photo shoot, they had already gotten the two bedrooms and laundry area framed in.  Unfortunately, my photos didn't do it justice and I only managed to get these two pictures.

The weather is not looking promising for the coming week, but we'll keep our fingers crossed that the forecasters got it wrong again!  LOL!

So, stay tuned for more exciting and hopefully, better pictures! 😄
